In 1987 Fr. Lawrence Farley came to start an OCA church in the lower mainland of British Columbia. The original nucleus consisted of about a dozen or so adults with a few other teen-agers. For the first eight years he worked at secular jobs to support his young family while growing the new OCA parish. Slowly the congregation grew in numbers, and continued to serve the needs of the wider Church: it produced deacons, priests, and scholars, who formed congregations of their own in other B.C. cities such as Vancouver, Comox, and Victoria. It also supported Fr. Lawrence as he ministered to his own congregation and wrote books, articles, blogs, and made podcasts, such as the Coffee Cup Commentaries, and No Other Foundation. Now the time has come for the congregation to provide for its own stability and survival by building a church of their own to accommodate their growing numbers. Will you help Fr. Lawrence and his community raise the Church roof? Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated. Supported by his church community, Fr. Lawrence continues his ministry of preaching, writing, and podcasting. Please consider helping him raise the church roof for his community as well.
